January | British Vogue with Iman by Nadine Ijewere:
There wasn’t much to criticize when Edward Enninful bestowed upon us modeling icon Iman as British Vogue‘s January 2023 cover star, who via the lens of photographer Nadine Ijewere was finally making her long-overdue debut as a British Vogue cover star. We ran out to grab ourselves the TWO dynamic covers.
February | Vogue Italia with Tatjana Patitz by Peter Lindbergh:
Vogue Italia was the only magazine to give up its front cover to the late Tatjana Patitz, who had delivered the publication an endless array of wonderful fashion imagery throughout her lengthy and remarkable career. For February 2023, the Italian fashion bible opted to reprint a poignant photograph of the German supermodel from 1990 by famed photographer Peter Lindbergh. A tribute cover done both tastefully and beautifully.
March | Vogue Poland with Anja Rubik by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin:
Vogue Poland gave us an all-out cause for celebration when it delivered Polish model Anja Rubik as their March 2023 cover girl, who splashed across a duo of celebratory and fashion-filled covers to mark the magazine’s fifth anniversary, posed for Dutch photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. A March issue and an anniversary issue done RIGHT. Take notes.
April | Vanity Fair with Gisele Bündchen by Lachlan Bailey:
Supermodel? Check. A deep golden tan? Check. Sun? Check. Beach? Check. Vanity Fair served up everything we could have possibly wanted – and more for April 2023. Gisele Bündchen embodying the ultimate golden goddess on a beach in Miami, via the lens of photographer Lachlan Bailey under the warm Floridian sunshine wearing a Chanel swimsuit proved to be a smash-hit of a summer-is-coming cover.
May | Harper’s Bazaar France with Imaan Hammam by Mario Sorrenti:
In 2023, the relaunch of Harper’s Bazaar France has proved to be one of the best thing to come into the fruition. From the get-go, the magazine has proved to be a massive competitor with the heavy competition down at the newsstand and the title’s May 2023 offering was so different. Evoking the spirit of vintage Harper’s Bazaar under the legendary Diana Vreeland, cover star Imaan Hammam struck a stance for Mario Sorrenti and styled by Emmanuelle Alt, this particular cover felt like a huge leap forward in terms of hope for the future.
June | Harper’s Bazaar Spain with Esther Cañadas by Vladimir Marti:
The June 2023 cover is Harper’s Bazaar Spain encapsulated the summer months flawlessly. At the request of Inma Jimenez Mateos, photographer Vladimir Marti captured iconic Spanish model Esther Cañadas against a picturesque and idyllic beach landscape, which ultimately made us want to book a summer vacation immediately.
July | US Vogue with Margot Robbie by Ethan James Green:
The first of the Summer 2023 issues gave us a gleeful and joyous Margot Robbie, posing all smiles for photographer Ethan James Green while promoting the soon-to-be blockbuster-smash Barbie. Styled by Tonne Goodman, the Australian actress instantly became the embodiment of Barbiecore sporting a bright pink Versace dress. As a result, the cover completely commanded your attention down at the newsstand – love at first sight.
August | British Vogue with Maya Jama by Steven Meisel:
It’s always a good month whenever Edward Enninful has commissioned master photographer Steven Meisel to shoot the cover of British Vogue and August 2023 was a sight for sore eyes. In the flawless and pixel-perfect cover photograph, British television presenter Maya Jama made her surprise and completely unexpected Vogue cover debut. Meisel (to no one’s amazement) profiled Maya flawlessly, in the cover which evoked the spirits of the 80s but with a modern and updated twist.
September | Vogue China with He Cong by Leslie Zhang:
Jumping on the hype surrounding the Asian Games, Vogue China’s September 2023 offering perfectly blended sport and fashion. He Cong featured in the striking cover image, with the Chinese beauty dabbling in a sport of archery, captured wearing a stunning emerald green couture scarf grown by Robert Wun which only added to the strong sense of drama and the beauty of the cover as a whole. September done extremely will, if you ask us.
October | UK Harper’s Bazaar with Saoirse Ronan by Agata Pospieszynska:
British Harper’s Bazaar doing what British Harper’s Bazaar does best is always a recipe for a good cover, and the magazine done themselves (and us) proud for October 2023. Lydia Slater embraced Saoirse Ronan as cover star, who posed for Bazaar regular Agata Pospieszynska and styled by Charlie Harrington looked radiant and ethereal in sequined Gucci. Overall, the cover encapsulated the changing seasons to perfection and outshone everything else available on the newsstand that month.
November | US ELLE with Irina Shayk by Daniel Jackson:
Model Irina Shayk, photographer Daniel Jackson and stylist Alex White proved less is ALWAYS more with American ELLE‘s November 2023 cover. A total palate cleanser for all that was on offer down at the newsstand. A breath of fresh air. Minimalism done right, and oh so perfectly executed by all those involved and just another cover cementing Nina Garcia’s ELLE as one of the best glossies in the business. 10/10!
December | D la Repubblica with Mila van Eeten by Nicola Delorme:
D la Repubblica‘s issue dated December 2, 2023 started the month off on an extremely high note. Despite the cover not overtly screaming pure unapologetic festive holiday glamour, Mila van Eeten posing for photographer Nicola Delorme gave us major ‘holidays but make it fashion’ vibes. Against a red backdrop, the Dutch model gazed down Delorme’s lens wearing Fendi and Cartier, resulting in a stunning and utterly captivating cover for us to fawn over. Zero complaints.
